A Pagan Cult, an Oil Rig, and One Man Left Standing — Graham McTavish Leads New Survival Horror

Graham McTavish in 'House of the Dragon' and 'Hobbit'

Filming set for later this year in UK and Bulgaria.

Graham McTavish, familiar to audiences from House of the Dragon and The Hobbit, is stepping into far darker waters as the lead in Gunn — a tense survival horror from genre specialist Neil Marshall.

Set on a remote North Sea oil rig overtaken by a pagan sect, the film promises claustrophobic dread and ritualistic terror, wrapped in the steel bones of industrial isolation. Marshall, known for Dog Soldiers and The Descent, returns here to the visceral, high-concept territory that first made his name.

The screenplay, penned by Doug Rao, won the Gold Prize at the Page International Screenwriting Awards and is already drawing buzz for its blend of psychological pressure and full-throttle action. Rao previously directed McTavish in Dirty Boy, a thriller that picked up Best Film at the Maverick Movie Awards, marking Gunn as a reunion of creatively aligned minds with a taste for tension.

Production is being handled by Citizen Skull, alongside producers John Hermann and Rao, with sales underway in the lead-up to the Cannes Film Market. Cameras are expected to roll later this year in the UK and Bulgaria — and if Marshall’s track record holds, Gunn may be the year’s bloodiest descent into madness.
