A Working Man, a new action movie with Jason Statham in the lead role, was released on streaming just days ago after three weeks in theaters, yet it continues to break box office records. Although it didn’t earn a huge amount — around $80 million on a $40 million budget — A Working Man had a surprisingly strong start, beating out even the recent Disney remake and the much-anticipated horror comedy starring Jenna Ortega.
The Master became the most popular new theatrical release in its opening weekend.
Despite facing solid competition from Snow White and Death of a Unicorn, it was A Working Man that managed to top the box office during its debut weekend — while Snow White was widely ignored due to its controversy and Death of a Unicorn only brought in $10 million, A Working Man added a solid $15 million to its total.
Afterward, the film did lose momentum following the release of Minecraft: The Movie, but still managed to break even and, by the end of its theatrical run, avoided causing any financial trouble for its creators.

Despite its success, A Working Man still couldn't come close to the achievement of The Beekeeper.
The new release, which many have dubbed an unofficial sequel to last year’s action hit The Beekeeper, does indeed resemble Statham’s previous success in terms of plot — once again centering on a former special operative trying to live a quieter life, only to be forced back into action when lawlessness takes over.
And while A Working Man was generally well-received by audiences, The Beekeeper became a true box office champion, earning over $160 million on a $40 million budget.
