Disney’s Tron: Ares, the eagerly anticipated sequel to 2010’s Tron: Legacy, unveiled its first trailer on Saturday. The logline describes Jared Leto’s character as “sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.” Jeff Bridges, who portrayed Kevin Flynn in the original 1982 film, provides a voiceover stating:
“Ready? Because there’s no going back.”
On Thursday, Leto and Bridges took to the stage at CinemaCon to present the teaser for Tron: Ares.
“As a child, I was obsessed with Tron. It was the ‘80s, and the future felt just around the corner. … Tron had action, adventure, spandex — lots of spandex,” Leto remarked, adding that his character is on a “do or die mission to fulfil his directive.”
He also mentioned that for fans who cherished the original Tron, this sequel “will hit you right in the grid, wherever that may be.”
Directed by Joachim Rønning, the film features Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson.
Leto produces alongside Sean Bailey, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer, Emma Ludbrook, and Steven Lisberger, with Russell Allen serving as executive producer. The rock band Nine Inch Nails is scoring the film.
Tron: Ares is set to hit theatres on 10th October.
