'There was nothing cooler': Tarantino Named the Best Film Ever Made — on IMDb It Is Not Even in the Top 250

globallookpress.com — Quentin Tarantino and still from the 'Jaws' (1975)

The director's choice, once again, is surprising.

Quentin Tarantino has always been famous for his passion for cinema and his specific view on the art of filmmaking. It would seem that in a world where there are The Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather, The Green Mile or even Pulp Fiction, it would not be so easy to choose a better movie. But the director succeeded.

Tarantino called Steven Spielberg's Jaws the greatest film ever made. And although this cult thriller about a cruel shark is still not in the top 250 on IMDb, for Tarantino it is an absolute golden standard.

"I think Jaws is the greatest movie ever made. Maybe not the best movie ever made. But there was nothing better than Jaws."

The director noted that before Spielberg, the thriller and blockbuster genres were more like simple attractions, but Spielberg, with his attention to detail, elevated these films to the rank of art. For Tarantino, Jaws is not just another horror film, but a work that shook all of Hollywood and changed the industry forever.

"He was born to make this kind of movie. He made it as spectacular as possible," Tarantino said.

In his eyes, Jaws became a benchmark for how to combine spectacle and deep detail, as well as how to create a true cult film that will remain in history. Unlike most films of that time, Spielberg skillfully emphasized atmosphere, tension, and skillful character development, which made Jaws not only a box office success, but also an object of admiration for many directors, including Tarantino himself.
