Will Smith is ready to bring Hancock back — and he’s got Zendaya in mind for the sequel.
During an unexpected appearance on Twitch streamer xQc’s live broadcast on February 19, Smith, 56, joined musician Marcin to discuss a variety of topics. But the real surprise came when the conversation turned to his 2008 superhero film, Hancock.
"They be leaking all my information," Smith joked when a fan asked about a potential sequel. He then dropped an exciting reveal: "There's a really cool, really cool Hancock 2 idea. We haven't even talked about it, so I'll give you one little piece — Zendaya will be being approached for Hancock 2, for a role in Hancock 2."

The original Hancock, directed by Peter Berg, followed Smith as John Hancock, a reckless, hard-drinking superhero with amnesia, struggling to clean up his image. Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron co-starred as a couple who help Hancock reclaim his status as a hero, while Eddie Marsan played the film’s primary antagonist.
Though Hancock was a commercial success, talk of a sequel has remained speculative for years. Berg hinted at a follow-up in 2012, and Theron later expressed enthusiasm, telling ComicBook.com in 2020 that she would return for a sequel "in a heartbeat." However, no concrete plans had emerged — until now.
While Sony Pictures, the studio behind Hancock, has yet to comment on Smith’s revelation, the actor’s recent career choices suggest he’s revisiting past box-office hits. In addition to Hancock 2, Smith is set to star alongside Michael B. Jordan in a long-awaited sequel to I Am Legend. He spoke highly of his co-star during the Twitch stream, calling Jordan "a rare one" with a unique perspective.

Smith is also reportedly developing a sequel to his 2005 rom-com Hitch through his production company. While director Andy Tennant isn’t involved, the project signals Smith’s renewed focus on some of his most beloved films.
With Zendaya potentially joining the Hancock universe, fans are now left wondering — what’s next for this unconventional superhero?
