Ben Affleck returns as Christian Wolff in The Accountant 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 action thriller. On February 13, Amazon MGM Studios dropped the first trailer, revealing a story packed with high-stakes action and family drama.
The Plot Unfolds
The sequel follows Christian Wolff, who is pulled into a deadly mystery after an old acquaintance is murdered, leaving behind a cryptic message: "Find the accountant." Realizing he needs backup, Wolff turns to his estranged brother, Brax (Jon Bernthal) — a lethal operative. Together with U.S. Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), they uncover a dangerous conspiracy and become targets of a ruthless network of killers.
Cast and Crew
J.K. Simmons reprises his role as Ray King, director of the U.S. Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Bureau. However, Anna Kendrick, Jeffrey Tambor, Jean Smart, and John Lithgow from the original will not return. The film is produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon through Artists Equity, directed by Gavin O’Connor, and written by Bill Dubuque — the creative team behind the first film.
Release Dates
The Accountant 2 will have its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival on March 8, followed by a nationwide theatrical release on April 25.
This thrilling continuation of Christian Wolff’s story promises intense action, suspense, and complex family dynamics.
