'That’s Gonna Be My Sister for Life': Storm Reid on Leaving 'Euphoria' and Her Next Big Moves

Storm Reid

From bittersweet goodbyes to exciting new beginnings.

Storm Reid may not be returning to Euphoria for Season 3, but she harbors no hard feelings about her departure. Speaking at Time’s Women of the Year event at the West Hollywood Edition hotel, the actress made it clear that her bond with Zendaya extends far beyond the HBO hit. "That’s my sister before Euphoria and after. That’s gonna be my sister for life, so I’m sure we’ll work together again one day in some capacity," Reid said.

Despite her exit, she remains a devoted fan of the show and is eager to see where the next chapter takes the cast and crew.

"[It’s] bittersweet," she admitted. "I love Gia. I loved being able to embody her and give her life. I’m really excited for Season 3. I know they’re going to do something special, and it’s going to be good."

Euphoria

After a long period of uncertainty, HBO officially confirmed that production for Season 3 would begin in January. The network even teased fans with a first-look image of Zendaya's Rue returning to the screen.

Much of the original cast — including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, and Eric Dane — is set to return. However, in addition to Reid's departure, Barbie Ferreira previously announced she would not be coming back. Tragically, the Euphoria family also suffered a devastating loss with the passing of Angus Cloud, who played Fezco, in July 2023 at the age of 25.

What’s Next for Storm Reid?

Beyond Euphoria, Reid is already deep into her next exciting venture. She’s currently developing Get Lite, a new Paramount film that will serve as Teyana Taylor’s directorial debut. "It’s our dance movie because we haven’t had a good one of those in a really long time," Reid shared. Set in Harlem, the film will showcase the rich culture of New York’s underground dance scene.

"People fail to realize it’s not just breakdancing and doing cool tricks. There are so many different dance techniques that go into getting lite, so I need to get in choreography classes immediately. I’m not there yet, but I will be."

Balancing Career and College

On top of her growing career, Reid is also preparing for a major personal milestone — she's set to graduate from USC later this year. While she has loved her college experience, she’s ready to move on. "I have two months, and I’m over it," she joked. "I’m just itching to be done, which is strange because I love being at school so much. But you know, I’m not an 18-year-old girl anymore."

At the Time event, Reid was on hand to present a Women of the Year Award to 14-year-old Avery Colvert, founder of Altadena Girls. Other honorees included Nicole Kidman and Olivia Munn, the latter recognized for her advocacy in breast cancer awareness following her own battle with the disease. As Storm Reid steps away from Euphoria, she’s proving that her career is only just beginning — with more projects, more challenges, and undoubtedly more unforgettable performances ahead.
