The fantasy television series Supernatural, starring Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, was a huge hit at the time, giving both actors worldwide fame and opening up new career opportunities. After the show ended, both Ackles and Padalecki decided to stay in the world of television for a while, taking on new roles in completely different projects — but in the case of the latter, it can be said that the actor began to adapt to his new role long before he received the offer, and while still working on Supernatural.
Jared Padalecki played ranger Cordell Walker before landing the lead role in Walker
The most dedicated fans of Supernatural will definitely remember this, in the 18th episode of season 6, titled Westland, Sam and Dean travel to 1861, where they decide to choose fake names for themselves. So, Dean becomes Clint Eastwood, and Sam, Texas Ranger Walker. The idea was clearly inspired by the series Texas Ranger, which was released from 1993 to 2001, then the main role was played by Chuck Norris. Later, Padalecki also embodied his character on screen, playing in the remake under the more laconic name Walker. Despite some fans' hopes, the whole situation is nothing more than a simple coincidence
While Easter egg lovers would like to believe that this plot decision was connected to Padalecki's casting as Walker, it's still far from the truth, the Supernatural episode in question aired back in 2011, while Walker only began production in 2019. In addition, it's unlikely that the creators of the latter would have had that short scene from Supernatural in mind when deciding who to cast in the lead role. But this is generally for the best, by the time work on Walker began, Padalecki had already said goodbye to Supernatural, thereby "spoiling" viewers his next project.
