The highly anticipated The Hunger Games prequel, Sunrise on the Reaping, has officially cast Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, a tribute from District 12 alongside Haymitch Abernathy.
The novel, published on March 18, introduces a younger Haymitch, played by newcomer Joseph Zada, while Woody Harrelson portrayed him in the original films alongside Jennifer Lawrence. Whitney Peak will take on the role of Lenore Dove Baird, Haymitch’s girlfriend.
Directed by Francis Lawrence, who has helmed every installment since Catching Fire, Sunrise on the Reaping is set to hit theaters on November 20, 2026. The screenplay is adapted by Billy Ray, with Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson producing.
Mckenna Grace is known for her roles in Ghostbusters: Afterlife and will soon appear in several upcoming projects including Blumhouse’s Kiss of Death and Scream 7. With an exciting cast and a rich backstory, this prequel promises to captivate fans of the franchise.
