More than two decades after Practical Magic first cast its spell, Warner Bros. is brewing up a sequel — and it’s bringing back Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as the Owens sisters, alongside a potential new addition: Joey King. The Emmy-nominated actress is reportedly in talks to join the coven in Practical Magic 2, stepping into the role of one of Bullock’s daughters, a young woman whose discovery of her family's mystical inheritance unleashes a fresh wave of chaos.
Behind the camera is Susanne Bier, reuniting with both Bullock (Bird Box) and Kidman (The Perfect Couple) to direct the film, which is scheduled to begin production in London later this summer. The story, once again drawn from Alice Hoffman’s enchanting universe, promises a mix of supernatural intrigue, emotional depth, and sisterly strength — this time layered with a new generational twist.
Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the original, has penned the script for this installment alongside Succession writer Georgia Pritchett, with Bullock and Kidman also producing alongside returning producer Denise Di Novi. The film is set for release on 18 September 2026, giving fans just enough time to dust off their spellbooks.

King, who became a Gen Z favourite with The Kissing Booth trilogy and earned critical acclaim for The Act, continues to build a strikingly eclectic career. With Practical Magic 2, she may just be stepping into her most bewitching role yet.
