For fans of Stephen King and his cult series The Dark Tower, today is a real holiday. After many unsuccessful attempts to film this complex and multi-layered story, there is finally a chance for it's worthy embodiment. And the main guarantor of success is now the King of Horror himself — King officially confirmed that he is working on the script!
During IGN Fan Fest 2025, the writer said that he is already involved in the creation of Mike Flanagan's series and even writes individual scenes. However, he is in no hurry to reveal details:
"All I can say is that it is happening. I am already working on it, but I don't want to say too much, so as not to jinx it."
Although the previous film adaptation of The Tower received a stellar cast in the person of Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, it could not boast of a clear script. But now everything will be different.

Mike Flanagan, known not only for his luxurious horror series, but also for the adaptations of the horror king Gerald's Game and Doctor Sleep, has long proven his love for King's work. His approach to adaptations combines devotion to the source material with the author's style, and his projects invariably collect rave reviews. And if King himself calls Flanagan's work "perfect", we can expect that The Dark Tower will finally get a worthy adaptation.
The release date is still a mystery, but with each new update, the hope for that very adaptation is growing. And now we have official confirmation: the story of Roland Deschain is in the hands of those who truly understand it.
