If there’s one thing the Scream franchise has taught us, it’s that no one’s ever really gone. And that includes Cici Cooper — played by none other than late-'90s horror royalty Sarah Michelle Gellar. While her character met a grim end in Scream 2 (RIP frat house balcony), Gellar’s not letting a little thing like death stop her from plotting a return.
"I’m waiting for my call," she told Entertainment Tonight at the Pretty Hurts premiere, flashing that signature Buffy grin.
"No, I’m not in Scream. I tried to get in Scream. Nobody wanted me. They were bringing everybody back. I kept thinking I would get a call. I didn’t get a call."

It’s hard not to root for her. Gellar’s iconic status — cemented by Buffy the Vampire Slaye and I Know What You Did Last Summer — makes her a perfect fit for Scream's legacy sequel energy. And she’s not wrong:
"A lot of people that have died in the Scream movies are back. Skeet [Ulrich], [Matthew] Lillard. I’m just saying, I’m waiting for my call."

With Scream 7 set to hit cinemas in February 2026, maybe — just maybe — Ghostface hasn’t had his last word with Cici.
