Josh Gad, the voice of the lovable snowman Olaf, has revealed why Frozen 3 won’t hit theaters until Thanksgiving 2027, assuring fans that the long wait will be justified. During a January interview on The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw podcast, Gad shared some insights about the much-anticipated sequel while maintaining an air of secrecy.
Quality Over Speed
"There’s a reason the movie is coming out in 2027," Gad explained. "No one wants to rush this. Everyone wants this to not just be a sequel or a money grab. They want this to be absolutely worthy of the story we set out to make in 2013."

"We want to give audiences something that is worth the years of waiting and anticipation. And I know they have a story that they are very, very excited about."
Gad teased that Disney is actively working on the project but joked, "Beyond that, I think I’ll have Disney lawyers knocking down my door."
The Legacy of Frozen
The Frozen franchise has become a cultural phenomenon since the release of the original film in 2013. Featuring the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Jonathan Groff, the first movie shattered box office records and remains one of the highest-grossing animated films ever. Its sequel, Frozen 2, followed in 2019 with similar success.
The films also inspired a hit Broadway adaptation in 2018, further cementing Frozen's global impact. Reflecting on the franchise, Bell once said,
"It’s just unlike anything Disney has ever done. It’s not about romantic love. It’s about believing in someone even when they don’t believe in themselves."
Something Special Ahead

Gad emphasized that the creators are dedicated to delivering a meaningful continuation of the story, promising something incredible for fans. While details remain under wraps, his enthusiasm signals that Frozen 3 will live up to its legacy when it finally debuts.
As Olaf might say, patience is key — because some things are worth melting for.
