While House of the Dragon season 3 is still over a year away, it looks like fans can already expect something truly epic. The second season of the show, based on George R.R. Martin's novel Fire and Blood, was released last year to much negative reviews, with the show's creators repeatedly accused of deliberately delaying key events described in the original book.
However, even with such a controversial reputation, House of the Dragon remains one of the best shows on modern television, and according to the showrunner, it will soon be able to regain the trust of its fans thanks to a new and, perhaps, the most epic third season of all.
Ryan Condal promises “darker” plot twists in the next season
While the second season was only preparing for the upcoming war between the Targaryens for the Iron Throne, in the third part, everyone will get down to business , at least, this is what House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal has hinted at several times. In one of the recent interviews, he said that the team has already started filming new episodes, and added that fans have nothing to worry about, the third season will be the most ambitious of all and will finally show the events that Fire and Blood fans were waiting for in the second season.

According to Condal, for those familiar with the original book, it has long been no secret that as the war approaches, the plot becomes much more dramatic and darker than ever before, so this time the series will try to follow the original source as closely as possible.
House of the Dragon season 3 could reach the scale of Game of Thrones
Although Game of Thrones received a barrage of criticism from both viewers and George Martin himself, it remains obvious that even its prequel has not yet matched the series in terms of scale and richness of storylines.
The first and second seasons of House of the Dragon generally focused on only one main storyline, while Game of Thrones covered several different conflicts at once, but this may well change with the third season, in the original book by George Martin, the war between the Targaryens will somehow affect other influential houses of Westeros, which will have to join one of the sides in the conflict.
This, in turn, will introduce viewers to a considerable number of new characters, with whom the show is unlikely to say goodbye once the war begins to come to an end. The premiere date of the third season of House of the Dragon remains unknown for now, but the release of new episodes is tentatively scheduled for next year.
