Pierce Brosnan, who played the iconic James Bond across four films, has thrown his support behind a familiar face as a potential successor to the 007 mantle — someone he once handpicked for a leading role.
In a recent interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Brosnan was asked about rumors surrounding Aaron Taylor-Johnson being considered to take over the legendary spy role. Without hesitation, Brosnan offered glowing praise for the 34-year-old actor, whom he previously worked with on the 2009 drama The Greatest. "I think he would be very good," Brosnan said. "I cast him in one of the movies I made a long time ago called The Greatest, actually, and he played 'the greatest.'"

Reflecting on his experience working with Taylor-Johnson, Brosnan recalled,
"This young man came on the set and took the space, filled the space with passion and energy. So yeah, I think if he wished it, wanted it and got it, he would be great."
Brosnan knows what it means to carry the Bond legacy — he starred as 007 in GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999), and Die Another Day (2002). Now, he’s showing confidence in a new generation.

In addition to Brosnan's endorsement, the James Bond franchise is undergoing significant changes. Amazon MGM Studios has partnered with producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman for the next installment. Courtenay Valenti and Sue Kroll of Amazon MGM announced at CinemaCon that Pascal and Heyman are currently in London working on the upcoming film.
While Daniel Craig has remained silent on his successor, Brosnan's support for Taylor-Johnson adds to the growing speculation surrounding the future of the James Bond role.
