Aziz Ansari returns to the director’s chair with Good Fortune, a high-concept body-swap comedy featuring Keanu Reeves as a flustered angel whose plan to teach a moral lesson goes spectacularly off the rails.
The newly released trailer introduces us to Gabriel (Reeves), a 'budget' guardian angel tasked with showing down-on-his-luck manhattanite Ansari that money isn't everything — by swapping his life with that of his rich but oblivious boss, played by Seth Rogen. Spoiler: the man loves being rich, and the angel gets demoted. To Earth.
The film, completed after some delays, marks Ansari’s first completed directorial feature following the ill-fated Being Mortal, which was shelved indefinitely after allegations involving Bill Murray halted production.
Joining the chaos are Keke Palmer and Sandra Oh, rounding out a cast that leans heavily into the film’s surreal charm. Shot in 2023 and rebooted in early 2024, Good Fortune appears to channel the spirit of ‘80s comedies like Big and Trading Places — with a heavenly twist. The film is slated for release on 17 October 2025, distributed by Lionsgate.
