When the production of Daredevil: Born Again faced significant challenges, Vincent D'Onofrio, known for his role as Wilson Fisk, knew the series was at a crossroads. However, the correct but radical solution came with the series producer, who literally saved the show.
D'Onofrio, alongside co-star Charlie Cox, found themselves struggling to connect with the vision of the initial writers, Matt Corman and Chris Ord.
"Charlie and I couldn’t understand how we're supposed to portray these characters that everybody loves within the environment they were putting us in," D'Onofrio explained.

Despite the writers' original idea being "great," the two actors felt the concept wasn’t translating well to screen.
With tensions rising, D'Onofrio and Cox took matters into their own hands, voicing their concerns about the direction.
"We needed to talk to the writers constantly every day," D'Onofrio confessed. Recognising the danger of failure, they pushed for changes.

Fortunately, Marvel boss Kevin Feige was listening. After reviewing the initial episodes, Feige made the bold decision to part ways with Corman and Ord, replacing them with Punisher's Dario Scardapane as showrunner.
D'Onofrio credits Feige for the turnaround, saying, "He listened very clearly to get to the bottom of it, and it ended up the way it ended up."
Thanks to this timely intervention, Daredevil: Born Again was able to find its footing, and what seemed like a near miss became another Marvel triumph.
