In an era of classic video games being rebooted into animations and live-action films, another beloved title from the early 2010s is making its return to the big screen. The Angry Birds Movie 3 has officially set a release date for 9 January 2027, with a new studio and fresh cast members joining the franchise.
While the first two films were released under Sony Pictures, Paramount Pictures will now take over distribution. Fans will be pleased to know that original cast members Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Rachel Bloom, and Danny McBride will reprise their roles as Red, Chuck, Silver, and Bomb.
According to Deadline the sequel also boasts an impressive new ensemble, including Emma Myers (A Minecraft Movie), Keke Palmer (One of Them Days), Lily James (Cinderella), Sam Richardson (Werewolves Within), and others. Notable additions also include Walker Scobell, Anna Cathcart, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and even Psalm West, the son of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
Producer John Cohen expressed his excitement, saying, "We’re thrilled to be partnering with Paramount Pictures and are proud of our stellar cast. Alongside returning favourites, we’ve brought in a brilliant new group of comedic talent, and we can’t wait for audiences to see them all together."
Angry Birds (2016) and Angry Birds 2 (2019) brought the popular mobile game to life, combining humour and high-flying action in animated films that delighted fans of all ages. Both became box office hits, with the first film grossing over $352 million worldwide and the second earning around $152 million, proving the franchise's widespread appeal.
