While the Minecraft theatrical run is gradually coming to an end, viewers have already found a new favorite: Ryan Coogler's horror film Sinners has been in theaters for less than a week, but has already collected an impressive box office and a whole collection of rave reviews.
The film, starring Michael B. Jordan, now has every chance of earning considerable revenue and becoming one of the cult films of the genre thanks to many factors, including the director's work. However, the latter was influenced by none other than Christopher Nolan, who, by Coogler's own admission, gave him valuable advice - and the latter, in turn, thanked Nolan in the final credits of Sinners.
Ryan Coogler Mentioned Christopher Nolan in the Credits of Sinners — Here's Why
Christopher Nolan is considered one of the most successful directors today, and so not taking his advice would be, to put it mildly, a big omission — this, apparently, was what Coogler thought. In one of his recent interviews, the latter said that before starting to shoot Sinners, he managed to discuss the future film with Nolan and his wife Emma Thomas, who produces her husband's films.
According to Coogler, it was Nolan who advised him to work with IMAX cameras, which he himself used to shoot some of his latest films, including Oppenheimer. And although Coogler himself had never had to work with such serious equipment, he accepted the challenge — and the result, apparently, fully justified all the risks.
Meanwhile, Sinners has been leading the box office for several days
After less than a week at the box office, the film has more than $60 million in its collection, and over the past weekend it managed to overtake even Minecraft: The Movie: the latter collected about $40 million at the American box office, and Sinners - $48 million.
Although the film was initially predicted to have average results, now it has every chance of recouping its own budget and even remaining with some revenue - the next few weeks will show whether Sinners will become a real box office hit this year.
Meanwhile, Sinners also has excellent ratings, and the film started with a perfect rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
