Swedish filmmaker Ruben Östlund is back with another thought-provoking satire, The Entertainment System Is Down. Following the success of Triangle of Sadness, which won the Palme d’Or and received multiple Oscar nominations, Östlund’s latest project takes audiences on a turbulent long-haul flight where passengers are forced to confront boredom — and each other — when the in-flight entertainment system fails.
A Star-Studded Cast and New Additions
The film boasts an impressive ensemble, featuring Kirsten Dunst, Daniel Brühl, Keanu Reeves, Nicholas Braun, Samantha Morton, and Tobias Menzies. The latest addition to this cast is Sex Education and Barbie star Connor Swindells. Other newly announced cast members include Daniel Webber (The Punisher), Wayne Blair (The New Boy), Lindsay Duncan (Birdman), and Swedish singer-songwriter Benjamin Ingrosso, among others.

Production Details and International Collaboration
Filming for The Entertainment System Is Down has begun in Budapest and will continue for 70 days, wrapping up in May. The production team has even acquired a retired Boeing 747 to create a realistic airplane setting. This international co-production involves companies from Sweden, Germany, France, and several other European countries. A24 pre-bought the U.S. distribution rights in a significant deal at Cannes, signaling high expectations for the film.
