The Phoenician Scheme is Wes Anderson’s latest film, premiering at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
Set in 1950, it follows Zsa-zsa Korda (Benicio Del Toro), a wealthy industrialist who survives an assassination attempt. He appoints his estranged daughter, Liesl (Mia Threapleton), a nun, as his heir to navigate a complex infrastructure project. The film explores themes of family, capitalism, and redemption through Anderson's signature visual style and ensemble cast, including Michael Cera, Tom Hanks, and Scarlett Johansson.
The movie features meticulously crafted sets and a whimsical aesthetic. It has been rated PG-13 for violent content, bloody images, some sexual material.
The Phoenician Scheme will be released in U.S. theaters on June 6, 2025, and is expected to be available for streaming on Apple TV shortly thereafter .
