Watched for 1 Billion Hours: Which 'Stranger Things' Season Became the Most Popular?
The privilege was given to neither the first nor the second season.
Each new season of Stranger Things has become an event, but one season broke all records and solidified the series as Netflix's biggest hit. In 2022, it amassed over a billion hours of viewing, stayed at the top for 19 weeks, and became the most talked-about on social media. We're talking about season four.
Why did this season become iconic?
This season brought more grandiose scenes, more horror, and more drama. The plot became darker, the characters faced the most challenging trials, and the final episodes kept viewers on the edge of their seats until the very end. Additionally, it was this season that gave viewers the iconic scene with the song "Running Up That Hill," which, after 37 years, topped the global charts once again.
The finale that changed everything
The last episodes of season four were the longest in the show's history, with the final episode essentially turning into a standalone film. The finale delivered incredible action scenes, spine-chilling moments, and heart-wrenching events, after which it became clear — Hawkins would never be the same again.
This season officially became the most popular in Stranger Things history. However, fans are confident that season five will surpass it. This will be the finale of the story, which promises to be even more grandiose, terrifying, and emotional. The anticipation continues, and a monumental conclusion to the iconic series awaits.
