The new season of the post-apocalyptic hit TV series The Last of Us still has a long way to go before the finale, but opinions about the sequel are already divided. A few days before the premiere of the first episode, which took place last Sunday, fans' hopes were boosted by critical reviews, among which there was practically no place for negativity — however, everything changed when the audience watched the first episode, and now the series has much less reason to rejoice.
Fans crashed the second season of after the first episode
Now that the series has set the stage for what the whole new season could potentially be like, the viewership rating of The Last of Us has dropped to a shocking low — the sequel now has 57% positive reviews from fans, in stark contrast to the 96% "freshness" from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. By the way, the first season was warmly received by both — so far it retains the same 96% of critics and 88% of viewers.
However, there is also an explanation for this gap in ratings for the second season. While viewers rated the series based on only one episode released, critics watched all seven episodes, and this is the only thing that gives hope for any changes in the opinion of fans.
In turn, the scriptwriters responded by saying that the show simply did not have as much time to maintain the intrigue as the game, and therefore the character had to be introduced to the viewer as soon as possible so that he could figure out whether he would stay on Abby's side or not.
