This 2022 installment ,which concludes the Jurassic World trilogy and serves as the sixth film in the franchise, surpasses the previous record held by Star Wars :The Force Awakens, which had an estimated budget of 512 million.
The hefty price tag for Dominion was partially offset by significant support from the UK government’s film tax relief program, which contributed around 115 million the largest amount awarded to a single film since the program since 2007. Additionally, approximately 3.7 million came from the UK’s COVID-related job retention scheme, bringing the net cost down to about $465 million.
A major factor in the inflated budget was the timing of production during the COVID-19 pandemic. The cast spent five months quarantined at Langley hotel near Pinewood Studios, living in a controlled environment for safety.
While initial estimates suggested a budget of 265 million, discrepancies remain unexplained. Despite mixed reviews, Dominion grossed over1 billion worldwide, with early profit estimates ranging between 229 millionand 235 million — though these figures may not fully account for costs.
Looking ahead, Universal plans to reboot the series with Jurassic World Rebirth, featuring a new cast and a more modest budget of $265 million.
