The fashion world’s most formidable editor-in-chief is lacing up her heels once again. Disney has officially announced that the long-rumoured sequel to The Devil Wears Prada will hit cinemas on 1 May 2026, nearly two decades after the original film became a modern classic.
While fans may be hoping for the full original cast to return, including Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci, no actors have yet been confirmed. Tucci recently told Variety, "I know they’re working on it... If it happens, I would be so happy, but I cannot give you any information." The actor cheekily added, "Otherwise, I’ll go to the actor’s prison or something."
Early reports suggest that the sequel will follow Miranda Priestly as she grapples with the decline of print media and faces off against her former assistant-turned-rival, Blunt’s character, now a powerful executive holding the advertising purse strings Priestly desperately needs. In other words, Runway may be struggling — but the drama is not.

The news arrives as part of a broader calendar reshuffle at Disney, which also included new dates for Avengers: Secret Wars, Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars, and a theatrical re-release of Avatar: The Way of Water in IMAX 3D. And James Cameron’s next chapter, Avatar 3, arrives December 19, 2026. Time to dust off your stilettos — May 2026 just became a date to dress for.
