This approach reassured some fans that the filmmakers respected the source material, while others questioned whether Universal was simply re-releasing the same story.
Director Dean Deblois explained that he aimed to learn about live-action filmmaking through this project, despite some minor changes to explore new ideas. The trailer reflects this balance; while it doesn’t introduce new lore, it offers a fresh take on familiar scenes.
