With so much content on Netflix, it’s easy to miss something truly worthwhile, as happened with the drama Wise Doctor Life (2020). Overshadowed by more popular shows, this series is a real gem that is worth watching. It attracts with it's unique combination of friendship, humor, and touching stories that unfold in one hospital.
The plot of the series focuses on five friends who work as doctors at the same medical center. Although it may seem like a typical medical drama, Wise Doctor Life avoids the stereotypes and cliches that are common to many dramas. Instead of political intrigue and dramatic endings, the series focuses on the sincere relationships between the characters, creating an atmosphere of friendship and support.
The series masterfully combines comedy with serious themes related to medicine and the lives of doctors. The cozy atmosphere and good humor make it enjoyable to watch, and the balance between drama and comedy allows the viewer to laugh and think about important things, such as the value of life and friendship.
The talented cast, including Jo Jung-seok and Yoo Yeon-seok, make the characters lively and relatable. Their performances add sincerity and warmth that is rare in modern series. Although Hospital Playbook has not received the attention of other Netflix projects, it deserves high marks from critics and viewers: 8.8 on IMDb and 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
