In the modern film industry, the budget plays a key role. Films with a budget of 2-3 million dollars no longer arouse much interest among viewers who are accustomed to large-scale blockbusters with impressive special effects and grand scenes. However, sometimes there are films that, despite limited funds, have a special charm and an exciting plot.
A striking example was the action film Mad Max by George Miller, which later turned out to be a successful franchise and is considered one of the best examples of dieselpunk. The film takes place in the future, where after a global catastrophe, life is concentrated along the highways, which allows the heroes to reveal their darkest sides.
The result exceeded all expectations: until 2000, Mad Max held the Guinness Book of Records record for the ratio of profit to budget, earning almost 262 and a half times more — the box office was almost 100 million dollars (the exact amount is 99,750,000 dollars).
