While plot details remain under wraps, the show will take place after the events of the two Ted live-action films. MacFarlane will reprise his role as Ted, lending his voice once again, alongside returning stars Mark Wahlberg as John, Amanda Seyfried as Sam, and Jessica Barth as Tami-Lynn. New characters include Apollo, voiced by Kyle Mooney, and Ruth, voiced by Liz Richman.
This marks the second Ted TV project on Peacock. The streamer already airs a live-action prequel series that launched in January 2024 and broke records as Peacock’s most-watched original to date. A second season is currently in development. MacFarlane also voices Ted in this series, with Richman playing Polly, John’s high school classmate.
The new animated series is executive produced and written by MacFarlane, alongside Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh — who also serve as showrunners for the prequel. The production involves Fuzzy Door Entertainment, Rough Draft, UCP, and MRC.
The original Ted movies were huge hits — grossing nearly 550 million world wide in 2012 and over 215 million in 2015 — produced by Universal Pictures and MRC Films. With this new series, Peacock aims to keep the irreverent humor alive for fans of Seth MacFarlane’s iconic foul-mouthed teddy bear universe.
