Black Mirror is known for its grim forecasts: in its world, technology destroys love, freedom, and the mind. However, not all episodes end in horror and despair — sometimes the series offers a glimmer of hope, and these brighter moments are especially poignant against the backdrop of digital darkness.
The most striking example is San Junipero. The story of two women who find happiness in a virtual paradise. Instead of catastrophe, there is eternal youth, a second life after death, and a genuinely heartwarming conclusion. It’s a rare instance where technology doesn't destroy but grants happiness.

There are others, too — for example, USS Callister. Yes, the beginning is ominous: a despotic gamer tyrannises the digital copies of his colleagues. But the ending is a true triumph of good: the avatars rise up and gain their freedom.
So, in Black Mirror, it’s not all hopeless. Sometimes the screen reflects a little light.
