New 'Daredevil' Shines with 83% RT, but Fans Will Hate One Moment

Still from the film 'Daredevil'

Just as fans were celebrating the return of their favorite characters, it's time to say goodbye to one of them.

When Marvel announced the appearance of Daredevil in the MCU, fans were eagerly waiting. The original Netflix series, starring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, became the benchmark for how to make superhero stories for adults. Now, after years, we’ve gotten Daredevil: Born Again — the return was successful, but there are nuances.

What’s the new series about?

In Daredevil: Born Again, Matt Murdock tries to leave his life as Daredevil behind. He focuses on his law practice, hoping that his past as Daredevil remains in the past. But, as often happens, the past doesn’t let go — especially when his arch-nemesis, Wilson Fisk (Kingpin), decides to run for mayor of New York. Fisk, played by Vincent D’Onofrio, is still as intimidating as ever, and his ambitions threaten not only the city but everyone Matt holds dear.

The series balances between the old and the new. It retains the dark themes of the original show — struggles with inner demons, moral dilemmas, and the fragility of human nature. But visually, it’s brighter and more dynamic, making it feel more modern. The fight scenes, as promised, are top-notch — blood, broken bones, and brutality reminding viewers that this is a story for adults.

Oh, and about spoilers:

Who killed Foggy and why?

In the very first episode, something happens that shocks: Foggy Nelson’s death. Yes, the same Foggy — Matt’s best friend, his law firm partner, and one of the most beloved characters from the original series.

It all begins when Foggy and Karen Page are celebrating success at Josie’s bar. At that moment, they’re attacked by Dex, also known as Bullseye. A sniper shot, and Foggy falls, bleeding. Karen tries to stop the bleeding, but the wound is fatal.

Matt, who is trying to protect a witness, realizes that this was a trap to distract him. He rushes to the scene, but it's too late. On the roof, he confronts Dex, and their fight ends with Matt throwing the killer off the roof. However, as later revealed, Dex survives.

Foggy’s death hits hard for the fans. Foggy wasn’t just a great comic relief character but also Matt’s moral compass. His death leaves a gaping hole that cannot be filled. While this adds drama and motivation for Matt, many fans are unlikely to forgive the creators for such a turn of events.

Conclusion: Should you watch it?

Daredevil: Born Again is a powerful, emotionally charged series that proves Marvel can still create quality stories. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio once again show why their characters are so beloved. The series combines brutality, moral complexity, and visual beauty, making it the best MCU project on Disney+.

But the swift death of one of the main characters is a moment that will stay with you for a long time. Not because it’s perfectly written (although it is), but because it’s... just too painful.

So yes, Daredevil: Born Again is worth your time. At least for now. But be prepared — your heart may not survive.
