In the post-apocalyptic world of Silo, the residents of a massive underground bunker face a mysterious illness known as "The Syndrome". But what exactly is this disease?
This condition manifests through tremors, involuntary twitches, and muscle spasms, gradually leading to a loss of both motor and cognitive abilities. The cause of "The Syndrome" remains unknown, sparking numerous theories among the bunker’s inhabitants.

Some believe it stems from prolonged underground living, lack of sunlight, and vitamin D deficiency, while others attribute it to the consumption of recycled water and food.
One of the characters, Paul Billings, the newly appointed deputy sheriff, suffers from this illness but carefully hides his symptoms, fearing the consequences. His story highlights how deeply "The Syndrome" affects life in the confined space of the bunker, adding an extra layer of tension and intrigue to the series' plot.
