When it comes to quirky families, the Addams Family and the Munsters might seem like the Brady Bunch compared to the Floods in this hilariously ghoulish Australian-Irish animation. Meet Betty Flood, a seemingly ordinary 13-year-old who juggles the everyday life of a typical schoolgirl. She attends a regular school, hangs out with standard friends, and engages in mundane activities. However, that’s where the normalcy ends—because Betty’s family is anything but typical. They are a magical, eccentric clan from a mystical kingdom, currently living in the quiet, unassuming town of Misty Falls. Though Betty cherishes her wonderfully weird family, she aspires to be just like them, and in order to truly fit in, she must learn the art of magic.
The film features an all-star voice cast that includes Evanna Lynch, known for her iconic role as Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter series, and Ardal O'Hanlon, who portrayed Father McGuire in Father Ted. They are joined by acclaimed local talents, including Miranda Otto and Richard Roxburgh, who add depth and charm to the characters. With its unique blend of humor, magic, and family dynamics, this animated adventure promises to enchant both kids and adults alike, highlighting the joy of embracing one's uniqueness and the importance of family bonds, no matter how bizarre they may be.
