Having launched powerfully and garnered a massive fanbase, the adventure fantasy franchise "Pirates of the Caribbean" has experienced a decline over time. It is evident that Disney has been in a creative crisis regarding the future development of this universe in recent years.
It's worth noting that the latest installment of the saga was released in 2017. Following this, Johnny Depp, who brilliantly portrayed Captain Jack Sparrow, was "canceled" in Hollywood due to domestic violence accusations made against him by his ex-wife Amber Heard. Deprived of its main star, the producers of "Pirates of the Caribbean" attempted to launch a female spinoff, but it was unsuccessful. Ultimately, Depp won a lengthy legal battle and restored his reputation. In this context, there is a possibility for renewed collaboration between the actor and Disney.
The reputable source Variety published an article about the current state of affairs at Disney. Among other things, it mentioned that the heads of the family corporation are open to Depp's return as Jack Sparrow. Furthermore, producer Jerry Bruckheimer is overseeing the writing of two different scripts for new "Pirates of the Caribbean" projects, one of which features Depp's iconic character.

“After the op-ed it was impossible to get him a studio film,” Whigham said while testifying.
It appears that negotiations between Depp and Disney are not currently underway, but it is clear that the company is planning to release "Pirates of the Caribbean 6" regardless.
