The world of James Bond is entering a new chapter — Amazon MGM Studios is officially taking full creative control of the iconic spy franchise.
On February 20, longtime Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson announced a joint venture with Amazon MGM Studios, shifting the creative power over 007 to the studio. This marks a historic change for the franchise, as control has traditionally remained in the hands of the Broccoli family since Albert 'Cubby' Broccoli first acquired the rights.
Wilson, 83, shared that he is "stepping back from producing the James Bond films to focus on art and charitable projects," while Broccoli, 64, explained that with Wilson’s retirement and No Time to Die marking the end of Daniel Craig’s tenure as Bond, she feels it is "time to focus on my other projects."

This transition follows Amazon’s 2022 acquisition of MGM, which gave the company a major stake in the franchise. However, reports surfaced in December 2024 that Broccoli and Amazon had been at odds over the future direction of Bond. Sources claimed that Broccoli was hesitant to entrust the character’s legacy to "algorithm-centric" decision-making, favoring the instinct-driven approach that has guided the series for decades.
Despite these past tensions, the deal signals that Amazon MGM Studios is now leading the way for the next era of James Bond. But with no actor yet announced to succeed Daniel Craig, fans are left wondering — who will be the next 007?
