After the U.S. premiere of Back in Action was canceled due to the Los Angeles wildfires, Diaz, 52, stepped out in Berlin on Wednesday alongside her longtime friend and co-star, Jamie Foxx. The duo promoted the Netflix action-comedy with undeniable chemistry and style.
A Glamorous Comeback
Diaz radiated confidence in a sleek ensemble, pairing dark-washed wide-legged jeans with a sheer black top layered under a chic trench coat. Her look was completed with Jennifer Fisher Puffy Dagger earrings, an Alexis Bittar clip earring, and a bright red lip that perfectly matched her nail polish. She added a playful touch with a loose updo and rosy blush, effortlessly blending elegance and approachability.
Foxx, 57, complemented Diaz’s look with his own polished outfit — a black blazer featuring bold white and black striped accents, paired with black slacks and dress shoes. The duo posed for photos, clearly enjoying the moment.
A Spy Thriller with Heart
Back in Action marks Diaz’s return to acting since her last film, Annie (2014), in which she also starred with Foxx. The film, directed by Seth Gordon, sees Diaz and Foxx portraying Emily and Matt, former CIA agents whose peaceful lives are upended when their cover is blown.
"Years after leaving their careers as CIA spies to start a family, Emily and Matt are forced back into the dangerous world of espionage," reads the official synopsis. The film also features a star-studded cast including Glenn Close, Kyle Chandler, Andrew Scott, and Jamie Demetriou.
Why Diaz Returned
Diaz’s decision to return to acting after an extended hiatus was announced in June 2022. According to Foxx, it didn’t take much to convince her. "I just said, 'Do you wanna have some fun? Just have some fun!'" Foxx told Entertainment Tonight. "Sometimes we miss special moments in this business, and this feels like one of those moments."
The production faced a temporary pause in April 2023 due to a medical emergency involving Foxx. However, filming resumed and wrapped by January 2024, with both stars excited about the project’s release.
Fans of Diaz and Foxx won’t have to wait long to catch the duo in action. Back in Action premieres globally on Netflix on Friday, Jan. 17.
