Harry Potter Fans Finally Understand What's Really Going On in that Scene from 'Sorcerer’s Stone'

Still from the movie 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone' (2001)

The harsh truth has been stubbornly ignored by viewers all these years.

Although the story of the boy who lived ended happily, there were many moments in Harry Potter's life that made fans of both the books by J.K. Rowling and the film franchise based on them want to cry out of resentment for their favorite hero. More than 10 years after the release of the second part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, fans never tire of rewatching each of the films year after year — but they didn't notice what was happening in one remarkable scene all this time.

A scene from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone will make you sympathize with Harry even more

Still from the movie 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone' (2001)

In one of the first scenes of the film, Harry, who has just received a letter from Hogwarts, walks through the living room of the Dursleys' house, while in the background the viewer can see Aunt Petunia cooking something in a large cauldron. Petunia has repeatedly confirmed her status as one of the most unloved characters in the entire franchise, and even in this seemingly insignificant scene, she proved it once again. Thus, according to one of the fans of 'Harry Potter', in the scene, Aunt Petunia was busy dyeing her son Dudley's old clothes gray, she was going to give them to Harry so that he would have a uniform for middle school.

Only J. K. Rowling's book could provide an answer to the question that tormented fans

The truth about what Petunia was doing in the aforementioned scene was revealed by a fan who, according to his own words, has watched all the films at least 500 times and read J. K. Rowling's novels about the same number of times. The post quickly found it's audience and started a whole discussion in which other fans of the story condemned the film franchise for ignoring such an important detail.
