George R.R. Martin Talks About the Continuation of 'Game of Thrones' Again — And It's Bad News for Fans
It seems the darkest fears of fans are starting to come true.
For over a decade, millions of fans of 'Game of Thrones', the show based on George R.R. Martin’s book series have been longing for the continuation of this iconic story. However, their deepest wish now appears to be on the verge of remaining just that—a dream.
A Worthy Ending Has Long Eluded 'A Song of Ice and Fire'
The situation surrounding the final two novels, which Martin has repeatedly promised to release soon, seems to have spiraled out of control. So much so that even the showrunners of the series lost faith and decided to write their own ending for 'Game of Thrones'—a decision that ultimately backfired.
For years, Martin has claimed that he was on the verge of completing and releasing The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring, but neither book has materialized—even five years after the show's final season aired.
Even George R.R. Martin Has Begun to Doubt Himself
Despite this, fans of the epic tale of Westeros’ political intrigue held onto hope—until now. Recently, Martin admitted that his fans might be right, and he may no longer be able to finish the story. In his own words, he’s already 13 years too late.
Still, the writer—whom many have dubbed an incorrigible procrastinator—has some justification. Over the years, Martin has not only struggled with creative blocks but has also been actively involved in the production of 'Game of Thrones' and its spin-offs, including House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
