Chris Hemsworth is heading deep below the surface — literally and metaphorically — in an untitled thriller from Amazon MGM that promises high-stakes tension and old-school action with modern scale. Reuniting with Extraction director Sam Hargrave, Hemsworth will lead as a former soldier trapped aboard a hijacked nuclear submarine, fighting off an enemy crew in a deadly race against time.
Penned by Arash Amel (A Private War), the script blends claustrophobic intensity with geopolitical suspense — think Crimson Tide meets Die Hard, but with a 21st-century urgency. With the world on the edge and no backup in sight, Hemsworth’s character must outsmart saboteurs, survive close-quarters combat, and stop a global disaster from unfolding underwater.

As reoprted by the Hollywood Reporter, Produced by Hemsworth’s own Wild State banner, alongside Hargrave, Greg Silverman, and Josh Bratman, the project sparked a bidding war before landing at Amazon. A theatrical release is planned before the film streams on Prime Video. Filming starts later this year — and if the tension doesn’t kill you, the depth might.
