He was serious about this transition. Rumour has it that Ford now has two new projects in the pipeline. The one currently positioned as his next film, which is being pitched around, is an adaptation of Anne Rice’s Cry to Heaven. Reports suggest that production is set to commence in January 2026.
“I want to spend the next 20 years of my life making films,” Ford stated. “And the clock is ticking. It was time to bid farewell to fashion. Fashion is a younger man’s game.”
Set in 18th-century Venice, Cry to Heaven tells the story of two unlikely collaborators: a Venetian noble and a castrated singer from Calabria, both striving for success in the opera world.
Ford has previously directed two critically acclaimed films: his 2009 debut, A Single Man, and 2016’s Nocturnal Animals, which won the Grand Jury Prize at Venice and received nine BAFTA nominations.
