Chris Nolan is doing everything he can to make his new film Odyssey as faithful to Homer's original as possible. And the first choice he made was to select the most genuine location possible.
The adaptation of The Odyssey as reported by the Variety, will feature scenes filmed in Sicily, which scholars suggest could have been a location tied to Odysseus' journeys in the epic written by Homer around the 8th century BCE.
Filming for the Sicilian segment of Nolan's Odyssey is set to begin in about two months on the island of Favignana, often called “Goat Island”. This location is thought to be where Homer envisioned Odysseus and his diverse crew stopping to feast on goats and resupply. Favignana is part of the Egadi archipelago, located off the north-west coast of Sicily.

Nolan is reportedly planning to film portions of the high-budget epic in Sicily's Aeolian Islands, according to multiple sources. However, the majority of the Sicily-based shoot will take place on Favignana. Other confirmed filming locations for the movie include the U.K. and Morocco.
