Fernanda Torres, one of Brazil’s most acclaimed actors and writers, is stepping into a dual role once again — both in front of and behind the camera. The Golden Globe winner and recent Oscar nominee for I’m Still Here has written and will star in Os Corretores, a tragicomic tale of two real estate agents navigating absurdity, ambition, and the slow-motion collapse of personal ethics. The film is set to begin production later this year.
Directing duties fall to Andrucha Waddington, Torres’ longtime collaborator and husband, whose previous credits include House of Sand and Me You Them. With Conspiraçao and Globo Filmes producing, the project reunites one of Brazil’s most artistically symbiotic duos, this time taking on the country’s property market — and perhaps the crumbling ideals built on it.
Os Corretores will be officially unveiled during Globo’s presentation at Rio2C, Latin America’s leading creativity conference, held in Rio de Janeiro from May 27 to June 1. The male lead has yet to be cast, adding an extra layer of anticipation to a film that already promises sharp writing and a deeply local, universally recognisable theme.

Beyond film, Torres is an accomplished novelist and screenwriter, with her debut The End selling over 200,000 copies and adapted into a ten-part series on Globoplay. Her work on The Others further cemented her reputation as a writer who sees the absurd in the everyday — a perspective that Os Corretores looks set to continue.
