Although discussions about Jennifer’s Body 2 have circulated for the past five years, it had never officially progressed, nor was it greenlit by 20th Century Studios. Writer Diablo Cody has long expressed her desire to revisit the narrative, stating:
“I want to do a sequel. I am not done with Jennifer's Body.”
Director Karyn Kusama has also shown enthusiasm for the project, remarking, "I would love to revisit that world." Despite these encouraging comments, no definitive plans had been announced until Seyfried’s recent statement, suggesting that progress has finally been made.
“I think we’re making one.”

Originally released in 2009, Jennifer’s Body, featuring Megan Fox, struggled at the box office but has since gained a cult following, regarded by some as a horror classic. Seyfried portrayed Needy, whose friend Jennifer (Fox) becomes a flesh-eating predator after a band’s lead singer (Adam Brody) sacrifices her.
The film cleverly combined horror with sharp wit, offering a dark commentary on unchecked desire and the complexities of modern feminism. I appreciated it in 2009, and I still do today; it was truly ahead of its time, serving as a wickedly entertaining post-modern satire.
While Kusama hasn’t directed a film in over seven years, she has been active in television, notably as an executive producer on Yellowjackets. I reported a few months ago that she was in talks to helm Jennifer’s Body 2. Her notable directing credits include The Invitation, Girlfight, and Destroyer.
