Who else from our old acquaintances will appear in the new Scream? That's right, David Arquette! He will return to the role of Deputy Dewey Riley in Scream 7.
Originally introduced in the 1996 film, Dewey was the awkward yet determined lawman from Woodsboro, trying to uncover the truth behind the town's brutal murders. As the older brother of Tatum Riley (played by Rose McGowan), Dewey's life was deeply impacted by the tragic death of his sister, who was killed by the Woodsboro killers, portrayed by Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard. In the earlier films, Dewey was also married to Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), who will be returning for the new installment as well.
Per Deadline, Alongside Arquette, other characters who were thought to be deceased in different parts of the franchise will return surprisingly, including Matthew Lillard, who played Stu Macher, last seen meeting a gruesome end in the original 1996 film, as well as Scott Foley, who is set to appear as Roman Bridger, the antagonist from Scream 3, also presumed dead.

Scream 7 is scheduled for release on February 27, 2026.
