The show is currently in development, with plot details kept under wraps, but it will serve as a follow-up to the beloved 1995 film.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are on board to write the series alongside Jordan Weiss. All three will also serve as executive producers, with Schwartz and Savage producing under their Fake Empire banner. Silverstone will not only star but also executive produce the project. Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed the original film, along with producer Robert Lawrence, will also be executive producers. CBS Studios is producing in association with Universal Television.
Clueless, which debuted in 1995 and is loosely based on Jane Austen's Emma, featured a cast that included Paul Rudd, Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy, and Donald Faison. A previous TV adaptation aired from 1996 to 1999 with Rachel Blanchard as Cher.

Silverstone recently reprised her role in a Super Bowl ad for Rakuten. She has starred in films like Batman & Robin and Blast from the Past, and her recent TV credits include American Horror Stories and The Baby-Sitters Club. Upcoming projects include Yorgos Lanthimos's film Bugonia and the Acorn TV series Irish Blood, where she also serves as a producer.
