Antoine Fuqua's Film About Michael Jackson to be Released as Two-Part Film: What We Know So Far

This confirmation comes from an exclusive piece, although the film currently retains its October 3, 2025 release date, which is likely to be postponed in the coming weeks.

This timeline allows Sony Music ample opportunity to organise soundtracks and promotional tie-ins, while also preparing Michael Jackson’s nephew, Jafaar, who portrays his uncle in the film, for public attention. Sources who have viewed footage of Jafaar are effusive about his performance.

The latest cut of Michael runs nearly four hours long, prompting Lionsgate to consider splitting the film into two parts. The intention is to create an “event” movie similar to Wicked.
