The sci-fi anthology Black Mirror, which makes viewers shudder at their own reflection in the digital future, has announced its return. Fun fact: the trailer for season 7 announces not one, but two sequels to the series.
Back to the roots with new technologies
Screenwriter Charlie Brooker said that season 7 will be in the classic style.
“But the familiar format will be supplemented by an unusual element: a tiny device for “expanding consciousness,” he clarified.
Actor Peter Capaldi hints in the trailer:
“It changes the neural structure, turning a person into a receiver.”
Long-awaited sequels to Black Mirror
Fans can expect a sequel to the episode USS Callister with Jesse Plemons — a story about digital slavery in the shell of a parody of Star Trek. Also returning is the brilliant developer Colin Ritman (Will Poulter) from Bandersnatch, now discussing the ethics of video games.
The cast and key themes of Black Mirror
The new episodes star: Emma Corrin (The Crown) as a victim of cyberstalking , Paul Giamatti (The Leftovers) as a participant in an AI experiment - Awkwafina (Shang-Chi) in a story about virtual addiction. The main themes will be: artificial intelligence, violence in VR games and the consequences of digital immortality.
All episodes of Season 7 will be released on Netflix on April 10, 2025. Get ready for new ways to question progress!
