After the Clone Wars, Darth Maul is determined to rebuild his criminal empire on a planet that remains untouched by the Empire's reach. During the 20th anniversary Lucasfilm Animation panel at Star Wars Celebration Japan, surprise guest Sam Witwer announced his return to the galaxy as the lead in the upcoming animated series, Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord.
Witwer, who first voiced Maul in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and later reprised the role in Star Wars Rebels, will once again bring this iconic character to life. The new series is set after the final season of The Clone Wars, showcasing Maul's resurgence as he seeks to unite various underworld factions.
Attendees at the panel were treated to an exclusive preview of the series' fresh animation style through a special sizzle reel shown only in the room.
