The trailer opens with foreboding live-action shots of an abandoned swing set and the wing of an aircraft. “The acclaimed drama returns,” it proclaims, before transitioning into South Park’s signature animation style.
The previous season aired over two years ago, and the show was notably absent during the 2024 election. Parker and Stone mentioned this was somewhat intentional, as they have lost interest in satirising Trump on the show.
“We’ve tried to do South Park through four or five presidential elections, and it’s such a mind scramble,” Stone remarked. “It seems to take on outsized importance.”
Parker added, “It’s obviously important, but it overshadows everything and we just have less fun. I don’t know what more we could possibly say about Trump.”
Currently, Stone and Parker are working on a mysterious feature film with Kendrick Lamar, slated for release in 2026 via Paramount.
South Park is executive produced by Parker and Stone alongside Anne Garefino and Frank C. Agnone II. Producers include Eric Stough, Adrien Beard, Bruce Howell, and Vernon Chatman. Christopher Brion serves as the creative director of South Park Digital Studios.
