Some spells take time to brew. Warner Bros. has officially announced that Practical Magic 2 will arrive in cinemas on 18 September 2026, nearly 30 years after the original film cast its quirky charm on audiences. The sequel sees Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman reprise their roles as the Owens sisters — two reluctant witches caught between suburban normalcy and supernatural legacy.
Behind the camera this time is Susanne Bier, the Danish filmmaker known for projects like Bird Box, The Night Manager, and The Undoing. Her previous collaborations with both Bullock and Kidman make her a natural fit for the follow-up, which is expected to blend domestic drama, magical realism, and the kind of sisterly mischief that turned the original into a late-blooming cult classic.
Returning to pen the screenplay is Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the 1998 film. While that film initially struggled — underperforming at the box office and drawing lukewarm reviews — it slowly built a loyal fanbase over the decades.

Production on Practical Magic 2 is expected to begin in late summer 2025. With Bier at the helm, the Owens sisters back in action, and a coven of fans waiting patiently, the sequel may just prove that a little magic — given time — never truly fades.
